Our Ride
Our conveyance for the trip is a 1977 Cherokee Six-300
Since I bought N2969Q last November, I have refurbished it inside and out, as well as upgraded the avionics. Though it's a six seater, the two center seats will be removed for the trip for extra room.
During the trip, our position will be tracked via satellite using the Spot locator beacon, and our position will be shown on the map above and updated about every 10 minutes while we're in flight. If you see our track diverge from our planned route, it most likely means we're diverting around bad weather.
Although we have an itinerary, it will probably change due to unpredictable weather. Not even airliners fly through thunderstorms, and if a thunderstorm prevents us from landing at our planned airport or blocks our route entirely, then we'll have to adjust our plans.
Another great piece of technology is the Garmin GPSMAP 496. Having the downlinked NEXRAD weather radar and airport conditions available in the cockpit will help immensely in dealing with the weather.

Now you can click on a waypoint (airport, navaid, fix) and get more information about our planned route of flight.

Routes in purple...
You'll now be able to see our planned route of flight, in purple, on the map at the top of the blog. Selecting a specific leg will only show the planned route for that leg, but selecting the Entire USA will show our entire planned route of flight.
